My favourite social media outlet is, without a doubt, Instagram. Twitter can be funnier, for sure, but I definitely prefer images. You can get an actual glimpse into someone’s life, and it encourages you to find good things in your own life to share. It can also be very inspiring – some of instagram accounts out there are like art portfolios.
I’m constantly on the hunt for new people to follow, but I thought I’d share with you the top 5 accounts that I consistently give hearts to. I know there’s so many other wonderful Instagrammers out there, but these are just a handful of the greatness that I’ve discovered thus far! I tried to pick accounts that don’t have hundreds of thousands of followers already, in an attempt to distribute the love more evenly all around.
Lousyice, also known as Taylor Ray, has an Instagram page full of muted tones and golden warmth. There’s such a good balance of interiors, portraits, outdoors, florals, and interesting details. She even has a classic shoe shot, but instead of pretty tile or flowers, there’s a rainbow oil stain on the asphalt. Oil stains are the last thing you’d expect to be attractive, but she defies this assumption!
imjennim (with punctuation: I’m Jenn Im), is a Korean-American beauty who spends her time creating probably the best fashion videos on YouTube, travelling between the Bay Area and LA, and just being all-around cool and awesome. She’s constantly coming up with creative outfit pairings, and I never fail to be inspired, even if I wouldn’t actually wear some of the things she wears (like holographic chunky sandals). I love her short little curly bob, her funky sunglasses, and her urban cool style. Check out her YouTube channel as well! It’s called Clothes Encounters, so clever.
ariellevey is a professional photographer, so it’s no surprise that her IG feed is super quality. Lots of southern California sunsets, ocean and pool blues, and a good dose of bright, florescent colour. She even has a website/blog/portfolio, see here.
witanddelight_, after the fashion/design blog of the same name, is like a home interior catalog or a lifestyle photography portfolio. It’s just great. All the patterned rugs are my favourite. Check out the blog too! Wit & Delight
I hope you all liked this month’s version of Found Objects. Next time perhaps I’ll share my favourite YouTube channels with you!
